Some of Nancy Cheak’s earliest memories are musical ones-moments with her loving musical family gathered around her great-grandmother’s piano, and moments at her family’s church where her entire family participated in the music ministry. Her earliest vocal solo memory was when she was barely high enough to reach the keys on a piano. Her grandfather had her sing the tenor part to “The First Noel” by herself after he heard her singing it beside him while he sang the bass part.
Her first public solo was in church, and all of these early experiences took root and blossomed into a lifelong love of performing, and of helping others develop their abilities and talents in performing. Nancy taught vocal, instrumental and general music in Shelby County Kentucky’s public school system for many years, inspiring and directing award-winning choirs, soloists and ensembles. She has a Bachelor’s Degree from Murray State University, a Master’s Degree from the University of Louisville, and earned the prestigious National Board Certification for Professional Teaching Standards in her field.
Nancy has been a featured soloist in an American music group that has toured in Honduras, Jamaica, China and Ukraine, as well as the Southeast Christian Church Easter Pageant, and currently enjoys assisting her Worship Pastor husband, Ron, every Sunday in the contemporary music service at Finchville Baptist Church. Nancy and Ron have a contemporary Christian CD “How Great His Heart Must Be”, and before the release of that CD, enjoyed 13 years as lead vocalist for the popular variety band FAZE, performing a wide range of musical styles, and opening for such acts as Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, Peaches and Herb, the Chi-Lites, Little Texas, Martina McBride, Ricky Van Shelton and Billy Joe Royal.
Nancy is thrilled with her new opportunity-The Ladies for Liberty-since she loves celebrating the legacy of our World War II veterans-“The Greatest Generation”, and she deeply values and appreciates the sacrifices of our veterans and active military that provide the freedoms we enjoy.
